Guys,
I finally returned home last night (Mon night). Instead of facing the 200+ emails in my inbox, the moldy clothes in my dry bags and my mud caked bike, I wanted to reach out to you to thank you for our Colorado Trail extravaganza. Because we had only 10 riders, if any one of us decided not to sign up, the trip would not have happened. So I am grateful that each of you took the risk of shelling out money and committing your precious vacation time to our expedition. The trip exceeded my expectations, and as the instigator of this ride, I sincerely hope that your expectations were met or exceeded.
As I type this email, my legs still throb a bit. I was challenged, physically and technically, and as a result, I feel very satisfied. I remember the abundant laughter and support that permeated the week. Other immediate memories include the 4 kegs, the lavish wild flowers, the amazing vistas, and sitting back while the guides took care of the cooking and cleaning.
So thanks for the laughter, fun and encouragement last week. I spoke to John this morning, and he is already working on a trip for next year. I’m in. But regardless of whether a future trip happens, I am grateful that we took a risk and made last week happen. Take care and try to retain that vacation mentality for as long as possible.
