Nutrition FAQs
Q: I have food allergies or require a special diet. How do I let you know?
A: We have an area on our Online Registration Form for you to enter this information, or please let us know your dietary requirements when you speak to us about your tour. Your guides on tour will pre-shop according to any and all noted allergies and/or special diet requests, and then skillfully prepare and serve the food while on tour. We also will make sure that any restaurant we visit while on tour is also prepared for any special dietary requirements. We pride ourselves on being able to cater to specific dietary requests, so rest assured that you will be able to get the nutrition that works for you during the week. Gluten Free, Dairy Free or a someone who loves it all – we will keep you well fed during the tour!
Q: What is served at breakfast during a tour?
A: On road bike tours, most breakfasts are served at the establishment that we stayed at the night prior or at a nearby restaurant. The choices vary based on the establishment, the locale, and other factors, but we generally make sure that a healthy and hearty breakfast is served to all our guests to assure a good strong start to each day. Sometimes on a road tour guides will also prepare breakfast if there is to be an early start or if there is not an adequate place to dine nearby.
On our off-road tours, guides will prepare a fully balanced breakfast while in camp… and make sure the coffee goes on early!
Q: What is served at lunch during a tour?
A: On both our road and off-road tours, your guides prepare healthy lunches such as fresh organic fruits and veggies, wholesome salads, fresh hummus, sandwich fixings, nuts, gourmet cheeses, and, of course, plenty of salty and sweet snacks such as chips and cookies.
Q: What can I expect for dinners during a tour?
A: On our road bike tours, we source our favorite restaurants in each town that we visit and focus on establishments that offer fresh and local ingredients. Guests choose whatever they desire to eat off the menu including appetizer, salad, entrée and, of course, dessert! Also, while on tour if a guest wants to dine early before the group and go to bed, this is fine as we understand that on some days sleep is the most important post-ride element.
On our off-road tours, guides will prepare all meals in camp including, but not limited to: Dutch oven lasagna, wild salmon, grilled chicken, salads, quinoa, fruits, and lots of seasonal veggies – all taking into account any special dietary needs. We pride ourselves on preparing hearty and healthy meals to keep our guests powered up for their off-road adventures.
Q: Do you provide sports nutrition products such as electrolyte powders and energy bars, or do I need to bring these?
A: Yes, we do provide Honey Stinger products, Taos Bakes products, Huma Chia gels, and Hammer Nutrition HEED electrolyte powders. However, if you have a sensitive stomach or are not familiar with these products, we suggest that you also bring along the sports nutrition products that you are accustomed to prevent any adverse reactions that might occur.
