A Colorado Tour of Epic Proportions!

Lizard Head Cycling Guides has combined two great Colorado cycling tours into an epic two-week adventure around the Columbine State’s most iconic peaks, passes, canyons and mountains! New for 2016, we are pleased to introduce our Spanish Peaks/Colorado Cols Epic bike tour. Taking the “best of the best” from our Colorado Cols tour and our Spanish Peaks & Great Sand Dunes tour, we have weaved together a tour like no other over some of the most breath taking terrain through the state of Colorado.

Cyclists joining us on this 13-day journey will feel as if they are participating in one of cycling’s Grand Tours as they tackle some of the most quintessential mountain passes in the Rocky Mountain State such as Cuchara Pass, North La Veta Pass, Slumgullion Pass, Red Mountain Pass and Independence Pass… just to name a few! There will even be a unique “Mountains to Desert” stage descending nearly 8,000′ from the verdant green of the San Juan mountains down into the red rock confines of the Delores River Canyon. There will also be an opportunity to ride to the top of Pike’s Peak with an elevation of over 14,000′!

Our journey will also takes us to the incredibly remote but beautiful Great Sand Dunes National Park, along the lesser known Greenhorn Highway and Highway of the Legends Scenic By-Way, over Grand Mesa with it’s myriad lakes (free range swimming!) and along the Million Dollar Highway from Durango to Ouray over three challenging mountain passes.

Riders will also enjoy their Rocky Mountain high in well known towns such as Gunnison, Durango, Ouray and Aspen; or find themselves charmed by some of the smaller towns along our route such as Creede, Trinidad, Paonia or Gateway. No matter where we stay, the accommodations will be relaxing and the food deluxe!

There will be so much to see and do, it’s difficult to list it all, so check out the Spanish Peaks/Colorado Cols Epic tour page and get signed up today!
