As Colorado’s premiere cycling tour operator, Lizard Head Cycling Guides is looking forward to providing our extensive local knowledge of Colorado’s mountains for the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017. We have partnered with Haute Route as an official Haute Route Rockies 2017 Tour Operator for their inaugural Colorado event.
The Haute Route cycling events are among the most demanding amateur races in the world. This is as close as amateur riders can get to experiencing the thrill, elation and suffering of racing in a Grand Tour. The Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 event is 7-days in length with over 550-miles of racing and 52,500-feet of climbing through the Colorado Rockies

Haute Route Package Includes: 8-nights lodging (double occupancy), mechanic support (your bike will be cleaned and tuned for each day), shuttles to and from race venues, daily laundry service, daily aid stations, water bottles, socks, jersey, energy food and liquid refreshments.
Tour Exclusions: Mavic Haute Route Race Entry fee $2,400-, alcoholic beverages, massage and bike rental are additional.
How to Sign-Up: Register through the Lizard Head Cycling website. We will then provide you a code that you use to register for the Race-Entry in the Mavic Haute Route system for ‘free’. NOTE: One can also sign up directly for Race-Entry (sans lodging package) in the Mavic Haute Route and then purchase the Lizard Head Cycling support package.

“Carving through the heartland of American cycling, the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 will feature an unforgettable combination of jaw-dropping scenery and breathtaking climbs…. Influenced by Colorado’s rich cycling culture, sections of dirt and gravel road (approx. 15% of the course) will add a new dimension to the Haute Route proposition, but these can still be negotiated on a standard road bike.”

- Friday June 23, 2017: Start village opens, final registration and briefings
- Saturday June 24, 2017 – Stage 1: Boulder to Boulder
- Sunday June 25, 2017 – Stage 2: Boulder to Winter Park
- Monday June 26, 2017 – Stage 3: Winter Park to Avon
- Tuesday June 27, 2017 – Stage 4: Avon, Individual Time Trial
- Wednesday June 28, 2017 – Stage 5: Avon to Snowmass Village
- Thursday June 29, 2017 – Stage 6: Snowmass Village to Crested Butte
- Friday June 30, 2017 – Stage 7: TBA to Colorado Springs
What to Expect
The Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 race field is limited to 500 racers. Expect a well-organized event from start to finish where each day rider times and classifications are posted and leaders’ jerseys and team awards are given.
Lizard Head Cycling Guides complements the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 event by sourcing a Colorado lodging and dining package with our local’s knowledge of the best accommodations and restaurants in each town.
Our Colorado local’s knowledge of the mountainous race terrain will be invaluable to our clients. This will be a team experience for our riders. Daily aid stations along the race route will provide energy food, mechanical support, and serve as a place to drop or pick up clothing. Each day your bike will be cleaned and serviced, your laundry fresh, energy food laid out and water bottles filled.

Race Entry Fee
If you have already registered for the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 event directly with Haute Route, you can still book the Lizard Head Cycling Guide’s event package.
Entry into the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017 also includes a package from the race event. Race entry fee up to August 6, 2016 is $2,200 and after August 7, 2017 is $2,400.

Non-riding partners can join you for this event. Non-riders (NR) add to the overall team experience of these events. NR’s can watch the race from the support vehicle and aid stations along the route. If NR’s have their own vehicle they can take in area attractions that we can help recommend. When the number of NR’s is 4 or more a dedicated Tour Guide and vehicle will be issued to the group. NR’s can then explore tours of the mountain towns, National Monuments and swimming, hiking, etc… The NR package is US $2,750 per person.

Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017: Logistics & FAQs
Lizard Head Cycling recommends shipping with BikeFlights.com. Bikes can be shipped either to our partner bike shop in each meeting town for professional assembly or directly to the meeting hotel for self-assembly. Bike boxes can generally be left at the meeting hotel during the tour. Bikes shipped across the continental US should be shipped 8 days prior to your tour.
Tour Support: A 15-passenger van and trailer that carries luggage, food and equipment will support this tour.
